In an attempt to contain the spread of COVID-19, many states and employers enacted stay-at-home measures which lead to millions of Americans suddenly finding themselves working remotely from home. Even when stay-at-home orders were relaxed, many employers continue to enforce or encourage employees to work remotely.

A recent report by Upwork’s revealed that a whopping 14 million to 23 million Americans are planning to relocate to a new U.S. city or region due in part to the growing adoption of remote work. The report “Remote Workers on the Move” used survey data from 20,490 Americans over the age of 18 conducted Oct. 1 to Oct. 15, 2020.

With this new freedom of being able to work anywhere in the world, many are looking to Hawaii as their next destination. We have put together a list of some of the many benefits that come with working from home in the Hawaiian Islands.

The Best Office View

Gone are the days of needing to use virtual backgrounds on your office video meetings. With the ability to work in Hawaii you can make the entire office jealous of the real-life tropical views that come with living in paradise.

Time Zone Advantage

While your workdays may start earlier due to the Time Zone difference, this opens the opportunity to head to the beach and learn a new outdoor hobby after a day’s work. Despite the early mornings, who’s to complain about being able to catch Hawai’i’s famed sunsets every day of the week.

Warmer Weather

As the continental United States begin to see colder temperatures, Hawaii might be the warm escape you’ve been looking for. Weather in Hawaii remains consistent, with only minor changes in temperature throughout the year. There are only two seasons in Hawaii: Summer from May to October and winter from November to April. The average summer daytime temperature at sea level is 85° F (29.4° C), while the average daytime winter temperature is 78° (25.6° C). The temperature at night drops approximately 10° F lower than the day.

Low number of COVID-19 cases

As COVID-19 rates surge on the U.S. mainland, Hawaii’s additional layer of protection for people traveling to Hawaii has played a significant role in keeping the state’s numbers low. Hawaii residents have sacrificed a great deal to help keep their communities safe during this pandemic and, in doing so, have achieved one of the lowest COVID-19 case rates and lowest virus transmission rates of any state in the nation. Whether you are lounging on a large stretch of beach or hiking one of the Big Island’s tropical trails that lead to secluded waterfalls, social distancing is fairly easy to do.
